Thank you for sharing. Before you share your photo and story, we’d like to gently let you know a few things:

• Your safety and privacy are paramount. Once you click “Get Started” below, you’ll see our privacy and confidentiality policy. Taking a moment to read and agree to it is a necessary step to participate in the ecolens project, ensuring your information is handled with care.

• Moderation and review process: Every submission is reviewed by our team to ensure it aligns with ecolens values and meets our content guidelines. Submissions that contain profanity, nudity, discriminatory or harmful language, or other inappropriate content will not be accepted. You can expect to see your published story on the website within 3 business days, once it has been reviewed and approved.

• Regarding photos of people: We understand the importance of everyone’s comfort and privacy. When a photo includes identifiable faces, it is implied that the contributor has obtained consent to share the image publicly. Each story and image is carefully reviewed, to ensure they meet our privacy and confidentiality requirements.

• About photo orientation: You’re welcome to upload your photos in either horizontal (landscape) or vertical (portrait) format. Please be aware that for the “Explore all” page, all images will be cropped to display in a horizontal format.

• What kind of moments can you share? We are open to seeing your perspectives through photos of artwork, the natural world, urban environments, landscapes, or images with people where individuals are not easily recognizable. There’s space for a wide range of visual stories.

• Sharing more, if you choose: If you feel comfortable sharing demographic information, there’s an option to do so, and it’s also perfectly okay to skip those questions entirely. If you’d like to share your email, we would appreciate the chance to stay in touch and perhaps check in with you down the road. Additionally, if you are open to being contacted for a more in-depth testimonial, please indicate “yes” on that question and provide your email so we can connect you with the Climate Disaster Project at the University of Victoria for a more in-depth interview.

• Having control over your contribution: If at any point you change your mind about your submission, please feel free to email us with the title of your story and a screenshot, and we will take the necessary steps to remove or amend it for you.
