Loss of the summer sky
November 25, 2025
It seems every two years we have a so-called "bad" fire season in B.C. now. The loss of forests, the unrelenting smoke and the cumulative toll it's taking on our health is evident. As a photographer, I sometime marvel at the ability of smoke and fire to change landscapes, but more and more I find I simply have to hide from it. Even with an N95 mask to protect my lungs, toxic smoke is hard on the eyes and rest of the body.
