Returning home against all odds

Ecosystems| Food safety and security| Resilience and adaptive capacity
This photo was taken during my time volunteering at Hoy Creek Hatchery where we see volunteers collecting litter to support salmon returning to spawn. While this image reflects conservation efforts, it also highlights a deeper issue, which is our declining salmon population. This change reflects how climate change and human pollution has altered the state of our ecosystem, degrading the quality of life for salmon and their habitats. Moreover, this also demonstrates the need for human intervention to compensate for environmental decline.
