Rising water, rising risk

Mainland/Southwest
Flooding| Resilience and adaptive capacity| Severe storms
Standing on Kitsilano Beach last night, the tide felt unusually high. It made me think about how much we rely on infrastructure like the sea wall to hold the line, and how other cities are already raising their walls in response to rising waters. Watching the waves splash over the wall, it became easy to imagine Vancouver needing to do the same. Sea-level rise, coastal erosion and other climate driven changes feel less abstract in moments like this.
