Adapting to the heat
September 3, 2025
When our west-facing upstairs bedroom hit 37 C indoor temperature in summer 2020 we knew we needed exterior blinds at a minimum to keep the heat out. We ended up getting a heat pump but these blinds still help to keep it cooler inside. We also requested boulevard trees that were missing and the city responded quickly. I find myself getting anxious about the impacts of climate change, but doing something to adapt or mitigate helps me feel better. Especially something for our community, like keeping young trees watered on the boulevard, or checking in on neighbours when it’s hot.
