Intense smoke and hazardous air quality shroud The Sphynx peak at Egypt Lakes in Banff National Park. As part of a month long 500km hike of the Great Divide Trail, we encountered significant wildfire smoke in the latter half of our thru-hike. Coming over from BC wildfires and North from Montana, many locals said that this is what summer in the Rockies is now, and that the days of crisp skies in mid-summer are over, replaced with the semi-constant yellow haze of smoke.
