Climate migration
May 21, 2025
In the summer of 2024, I went to the Serengeti Plain in Tanzania. It was during the dry season when the wildebeest migrate from dry areas to places where there is still enough vegetation to eat. I was lucky to observe a river crossing event, and our guide pointed out how climate change is affecting the abundance of plants on different sides of the river, leading to confusion among wildebeests. This photo makes me wonder how the local Maasai tribes and their health are being affected by changes in the distribution of plants and animal caused by climate change?
