Fading history: climate change’s silent erosion of ancient ruins

Outside BC
Drought| Resilience and adaptive capacity
I grew up knowing Libya’s ancient ruins have withstood centuries, yet climate change threatens them in ways war and time never could. Rising temperatures, erosion, and desertification wear away at these historical sites, just as climate change impacts communities living nearby. Walking through these structures, I see a metaphor for resilience but also for fragility. If we don’t act, the scars of climate change will extend beyond our environment and into our history, erasing pieces of our past before we even realize it.
