Snowed in: the intersection of weather and wellness
May 21, 2025
A quiet road winds through a winter wonderland, flanked by towering snow-covered trees. Beside it, a frozen lake glistens under the pale winter sky, its surface reflecting the towering, misty mountains in the distance. This snowy scene is one that may not be as common in the future as climate change continues to increase average temperatures. Snow is impactful to humans as it provides people with a sense of slowing down, de-stressing from the nonstop crazy we have in our normal lives. Snow and snow days symbolize happiness for students, as they get a mental health reset day, but also allow us to take a step back and reflect on the many actions we take to accelerate climate change every day. We must preserve such joys for future generations, making it our priority to advocate and adapt to climate change.
