Witness tree
August 6, 2025
Every day on my commute through the park, I pass an old tree slowly dying - its needles thinning, the soil around it dry and cracked. Another tree in the park was struck by lightning last year. These trees, once steady and strong, are now symbols of stress. Watching them struggle under more extreme weather makes me feel the weight of climate change in my own body. It reminds me that our collective actions are accelerating these changes, leaving marks on the land, and on us.
